He's 17, almost 18, which is a task in and of itself, but his recently adopted sister, 14-year-old Megan, is shutting him out and rejects any attempt he makes to get to know her. Also, his long-time girlfriend cheated on him. That's pretty bad too. But when his mother, the only dependable person in his life,  disappears and his dead grandmother shows up on his doorstep with a craving for blood, family troubles become the least of his worries as life shatters everything he knew with a sledgehammer and leaves him to pick up the pieces. There's only one thing he knows for sure now. He'll do anything to keep Megan, his only remaining family, safe from people who want to kill them, both dead and undead alike. The only problem is, how do you keep someone safe if you have no clue how?
