Samantha Brock's homecoming wasn't supposed to be like this. After spending the last 8 months over seas she returns home and prepares to come back into the familiarity of civilian life. The transition is quieted by a virus that has been advancing across the mid-west like a soldier behind enemy lines, igniting in California and spreading across the states like a searing wildfire. Separated from her family, she abandons the safety of the family home to scour the city in search of her younger brother, Danny. Kyo Iwasa, her families next door neighbor and Danny's Judo teacher, insists on joining her into the city, claiming that he might know where her brother could be hiding. This is a story about a military vet searching for her family among the chaos and disorder of a newly turned world, consumed by The Ravaged.

It's been ten years since the fall of humanity. I was only ten years old when the zombies took over. The military told us to flee underground, explaining that it was safer. The zombies are smart, too smart. They can learn to hide themselves. Some of them disguise themselves to look like normal people. We tell them apart by checking their eyes. Zombies have enlarged pupils compared to humans. No one knows why. 🏆 3rd place in The Flames Awards Sci-Fi category 🏆3rd place in The Slayer Book Awards 🏆3rd place in The Siren's Curse Awards @ScienceFiction added The Dead Walk Among Us to their Zombies reading list.
