Sixty seconds in today's world seems to feel like thirty, and you survive another year only to wish you hadn't.

2050: The year of the apocalypse.

One girl swears she is losing her mind, ironic given the power she holds. Another is convinced her brother is dead, though somehow he's forced himself to continue hoping she is alive. One young teen made a mistake, and now he is being tortured by his own guilt, forced to watch three of his former allies suffer at the hands of his new group of companions. 

While the past, present, and future seem to haunt different members of the group, these may be the very least of their worries. Decisions will be made, for better or worse, the outcomes of which could leave the group lost in a sea of chaos. Old acquaintances pose deadly threats, and no one can anticipate the dangers lying in wait around every corner.

It is a time of despair, yet a time of courage. In an era where only the strong survive, who will continue to move forward, and who will give up on the fight entirely?

The apocalypse has already started and finished, leaving some of the surviving ones with strange powers and mysterious scars. The world has ended, according to some, and is now in a state of rebirth. Others say it hasn't ended yet and that it's only going to get worse. The remaining people have grouped together in packs and gangs, raiding the desolate cities and avoiding the ones called the Destroyers, who capture and torture the remaining survivors. No one is safe. One fifteen year old boy knows this better than anyone. He and his older sister lived together, sticking to the dark alleys of their abandoned city, and survived for years after the apocalypse, until the Destroyers came and took her away, reigning terror on the few who remained in the city. The boy, desperate to find someone to help him save his sister, leaves the city and finds one of the youngest cooperative packs in North America, called the Raiders, comprised of unwanted individuals with the strange powers left from the destruction of years past. Their leader, a destructive insomniac, promises to help him in return for the skills and usefulness this young boy seems to possess, but something disrupting sends waves of unease through the Raiders, something about a forgotten past and talk of a mutiny. "Maybe there's more to life than just surviving." ... Rated C for Caution. Though it's rated mature, there is no bad language or vivid descriptions of sexual contact. It does have very strong themes. Morgan Carter was put in the camps and wasn't able to come out the same way she came in. She became their pet telekinetic/assassin, ready to kill and torture without hesitation and knew how to. She forgot her old life, including her name. Rylie Garner paraded as Light Glider around his city-their own personal superhero-escaping being caught with the help of his friends while trying to find his little supernatural sister, who was taken. Countries and cities like China and New York were blown clean off the map leaving radio active waste in its place. Governments were destroyed and humanity was left to build its self back up. Scientists have developed technology in which slower vehicles can be powered by plant waste. Solar, wind, and hydra technology has been further developed although nothing works the same. All of this is thanks to Mr. Derek Evan Halk who has studied many things. Specializing in Mechanics, technology and biology Derek had it all until he suddenly disappeared with his family. Savannah Halk and her family know something the world doesn't know. She carries the weight of her deceased father's legacy on her shoulders as she tries to keep her family out of harms way. With a brother missing his twin. Another brother struggling to comprehend his emotions. A mother clinging to death of her husband, and a sister who will never know her father. Katelyn comes from an abusive past. She never knew anyone besides her parents. She learned how to read from her parents although after one hundred years books are a rare oddity, so why would they care if she could read or not? Humanity. It goes beyond the common definition of: "a collective group of humans". It's a sense of benevolence. One may act; 'for the sake of humanity' and there are; 'crimes against humanity'. We're supposed to be proud of the human race, yet... humans are self-destructive. A group of elite alien race came to Earth and proved once and for all that we were our own worst enemy. They weren't wrong. but it was too late. They managed to save Earth- eradicating pollution and reversing global warming but they killed anyone who got in their way and indoctrinated the rest. Those who remained revolted. World War III resulted- killing the planet. The War ended but the battle was not won. The fight continues on, despite the destroyed society and Earth we call home. It's a relentless fight between those who want the world to go back to the way it was and those who still fight to hold on to their humanity- no matter what.
