Lagos was never an option. I came here because my parents had no money, I was sent to stay with my aunty. They said it was for my own good but they didn't know the kind of life waiting for me here. In my aunty's house, I have to be careful. The way she talks, the things she expects from me, it scares me. School isn't easy too. New place, new faces. Some people are kind while others want trouble. But regardless, I slowly find my own people, friends that make me laugh again. And then there's him. I didn't plan for love, not in this kind of life but somehow, he makes things feel lighter, even when everything is heavy. Still, Lagos is not a place you can relax. One wrong step and everything is ruined. One thing I have learnt in this city is that nobody will save you. You have to save yourself. Because in Lagos, "You have to use what you have to get what you want."
