Leah Clearwater is a fifteen year old werewolf and things get difficult after her sixteenth birthday when she doesn't shift. Being the Alpha's daughter of the strongest pack in the world, Silver Moon Pack, makes it even harder on her. She deals with the tormenting comments and actions some of the people in the pack give her, and its very hard on her even though people don't see it since she hides her emotions so much. Hunters attack their land and completely destroy whatever kind of shelter there is. Since that happened Leah has to move in with the second strongest pack, Moonlight Ride Pack, in order for shelter. It brings her to full joy when she is greeted with the smell of chocolate and vanilla. Immediately she knew it was her mate. The bad thing about it is she feels as he might reject her if he finds out she can't shift.

When eighteen year old Jacob Black finds out his mate is going to be in the same house as him, he is more than happy. It saddens him when he tries to officially meet his already loved mate that she tries to get away from him. He fears he's not good enough for her and she might reject him. He's going to be the Alpha soon and every pack needs a Luna.

Leah tries to avoid getting marked and telling people that she found her mate, because she fears that they'd tell him about her not being able to shift. How will Leah survive the heat, or even walk past Jacob without throwing herself at him? But she promises herself not to risk rejection.
