Soleil is one of the few selected to get a chance into the future. The project has taken years to perfect, but finally, it's ready. The next three centuries for him will be spent frozen in a cryogenic pod and when he awakes, he'll be in an entirely different time. The plan isn't foolproof and he accepts the risks, but when something really does go wrong, it's far different from anything they'd expected. "The room was as plain as they came: white walls, white floor, a single window. It stank of cheap medicine and cheaper booze and Soleil knew this room would be one thing he wasn't going to miss. Not that he'd be conscious enough to miss anything. For him, it would be only as long as a good night's sleep. But when he awoke, it'd be three hundred years from the time he knew."

Foster was naive. He had been alone in the 'alley' - an ironic metaphor he used to describe the claustrophobic, four cornered room that was well lit to expose the white walls. After being sedated to sleep for a longer period no one could imagine, he woke up learning he wasn't aging while the people he met was, and the outside world ilwas changing. All he must do to survive is to step up his will to adapt.
