Blair Payne can't stay bundled up at home in her mounds of blankets and food, even though she really would rather to, then going to school. Her therapist says it'll get better. Though she's loosing any motivation towards that, too. The only thing keeping her alive is the lost and broken memories of Carson Coltly, her missing best friend.
Along comes stumbling and optimistic Elijah Finley, who tries to fix all of her problems as soon as they meet in the ladies bathroom, with him catching her cutting. The only problem is, Blair has given up. Completely. And so she makes him a deal.
Twelve days is all he has to change her mind, to make her stay alive.
