I threw my hands up in exasperation. Why did logical reasoning prove to be so difficult for the members of my, no wait, every generation? It's like the theory of Social Darwinism was working perfectly up until the 80's when the use of drugs skyrocketed and 'novel' entities like the 'afro' and my English teacher first came into existence. Unfortunately for humanity, they're both still around, bludgeoning the good name of human intellect and reason. Add that in to the part where I'm trying to survive the last few months of high school, overcome my blossoming youtube addiction, establish a non-mutual friendship with my calculator who I've named Benny, and deal with the anal sphincters who daily grace my high school with their beautiful faces and amazing intellect, or lack of thereof. Just another day in the life of a not-so-typical teenager...

I sit down on my bike looking around the school parking lot. Listening to music, I stand up begin to walk through the student-less parking lot. Honestly, it's not like I meant to be late. My music cut out causing me to hear a whistle. I stop in my tracks and pull my headphones down to my neck. Turning around, I seen a group of men with one guy who just smirked at me. "You new here beautiful?" one of the guys asked. "What do you think Einstein?" cocking my brow. "Ohh. Challenging? I like." he says walking towards me, about two inches away. "Really?" biting my lip, as he continued walking towards me. He reaches out and grabs my hip, "Mmhmm," smiling down at me. Swiftly, I grab his hand, turn him around, kick him right above the back of his knee, and pushes down so he's on his knees in front of me in a position of which I could brake his arm, "What a shame, 'cause personally, I don't like fuck boys with various STD'S." I look at all the men in the group who had their jaws dropped, all except for one, "Touch me one more time, and I'll brake your arm in two." I stand and kick his back so he falls on the concert. "Anyone else?" they stare at me blankly. "Didn't think so." When fuck boy tries to get up, I take my foot and slam him back down. Looking back at the boys, I say, "Later boys." Then, I turn and leave. ~~~~ Truce Mane is a girl who recently moved to New York with her youngest niece and nephew along with her uncle Mike. Truce went through many things as a child. It’s funny how little things that happen in life can change everything about a person. How it changes their attitude, appearance, status in society, personality, and much more. I was your typical teenager, I hung out with all kinds of people, I loved making new friends, I didn't care about appearances or which group you were from. Then I started high school and everyone started changing, the cliques got worse and some of my friends had become too good for the rest of us. Life went on though no matter what there was a group of us that refused to let the politics of high school change us, but no matter what slowly each one of us fell into it all whether we realized it or not. Our group went from tons of people to a mere few. All that was left was those who didn't play in any sports, wasn't a genius, wasn't asked to join the more popular crowd, and who had no school spirit. You really found out who your true friends were through the transition of grade school to high school. I still got along with everyone although I only would hang out with my small group. Even we had let the politics of high school change us whether we realized it or not. We each had changed our outlook on life and our attitudes a little here and there but that could have just been considered as us growing up as well. I like to think that we were shaped by the harshness high school brought with it. Our group went through major changes our senior year not that we had expected it to happen or even wanted it to happen but it did changing our lives forever. It all started when two new guys were introduced to our school taking all of us for one hell of a ride.

You had been attending the same school for over 15 years, obviously because you were born in the small town in North Carolina. You were living a pretty normal life, till all of the abductions started happening in 1977. But lets go back a bit. Lets go back to the year 1976. You had been on a night shift on November 18th, 1976. There were many more people than your previous shift. Really the only people there were dropouts, druggies, drug dealers, freaks, and alcoholics. All around the ages 14-22. Everybody was pretty chill with eachother, except for a few people, but that was just the minority. You had been zoned out while staring at the clock, then suddenly heard a DING! Some kid wanted to buy some cigarettes again. You looked at him and he said "Jesus kid, you in a mental insitute or something? Snap out of it." you ringed him up after he asked you for a pack of camels, and then looked at a familiar guy playing pinball. The same blonde that got over 100,000 his last time he came. Everybody started hyping him up, so he's trying to beat 100,000. You remember the mess you had to clean up after some kid accidently knocked over a bunch of beer. You like to not think about how it ruined your favorite pair of shoes. He messed up again, and kicked the machine. You yelled out to him "That thing costs money you know." then he looked at you. His face almost looked angelic. But he had been the jerk of your highschool, so he couldn't be that angelic. He looked away and picked at his pockets. He pulled out nothing. He started walking up to you and started asking for a dime. "Come on, I feed you guys this money all the damn time. Plus you will just get it back." "Then maybe don't waste all your money on pinball. We've gained around $200 with you coming here almost everyday. Thanks for that." and then you smiled while picking up your book. He looked at you in anger, then you looked back up at him. He looked like he was in a bad mood. "Here's a dime." you said handing him a dime.

It wasn't necessarily the way that he would talk, even though have of the time I had to ask him what he meant. It wasn't even the way that he would try to tease me about my height even though he wasn't all that tall himself. Maybe it was the way that he would chuckle under his breath when he had to explain something to me (more than once I might add) Or maybe it was the way that he would go out of his way to meet up with me in the hallways right before my algebra class just so we could hear how the others day was going (which almost made us late to class on numerous occasions) Or maybe it was even the way that he would compliment me on the rare occasion (He had told me once that I looked beautiful with glasses even though I hated them and preferred my contacts more) It could've even been the fact that when he spotted me in the hallways and would leave his friends just to come and talk to me. Even though I would point out the fact that he left his friends, he would just smile and chuckle which would cause a blush to creep up onto my features. All I knew at the time was that I was falling in love with one of the smartest people I had known. I prayed that by some miracle the feelings would go away, even though I knew they wouldn't. After graduation, it would be a long time before we crash into each other again. If I would've known that I would find him again in the future, I would've prepared myself better. But as I stood there, staring into those blue eyes of his, I knew that I had fallen in love with him all over again. ((Also none of the pictures are mine, all credit goes to the original artists))
