This is my contribution to our Cinderella Anthology Project (https://ithinkisayido.wordpress.com/2017/01/04/invitation-write-your-own-cinderella-story/), this is my take on the classic folktale. There is room to grow this to a full short story but for the blog, this was limited to less than 1,500 words. I am working on the full one.

To begin my story, I will tell you that I DO NOT own Disney, Disney Pixar, or any of the Disney Characters in this story. Now that that is out of the way, you should know that this story is not based on the pictures from DeviantArt where they all become zombies. Well, if it isn't about the zombie pictures, what is it about you may ask. This is about what would happen if one event from the Disney movie didn't happen. This story is about what would happen if Cinderella didn't get to try on the glass slipper or if Gaston had defeated the beast. I will warn you that this story might make you kind of emotional if you have a serious connection with some of the characters. While writing this, I teared up a little over what I was writing. A few chapters might also get a little mature. There shouldn't be anything sexual, but there are a few chapters involving death and suicide... Not Your Princess
Loosely inspired by the fairy tale of Cinderella, Not Your Princess plays on the scenario where neither the prince nor the future princess attends the ball. Aschleigh Baker did not have a fairy godmother to rescue her when she was prohibited from attending the prince's engagement ball. No one was there to wave a magic wand and right all of the wrongs done unto her. Instead, she ended up going to the town's tavern to miserably celebrate her last night of freedom before she is forced into marrying her family's blackmailer, who knows about her secret imperviousness to fire. Prince Augustus never wanted to be forced into an arranged marriage with a stranger. Thus, on the night of his engagement ball, he finds himself visiting the nearest town's tavern to live one more day of freedom. There, he meets Asch and finds himself enchanted by her from the moment they first meet. Neither one of them was aware that missing the ball would lead to an accidental, irreversible marriage. Nor could they expect a person calling themselves the Priestess to set their sights on the new princess, intending to kill her for sins Asch is not aware of. I Am Not Cinderella
You all know the story of Cinderella. The story of how she was a servant with an evil step-mother and step-sisters. Remember how she went to a ball and fell in love with the prince. After the ball Cinderella tried on a glass slipper and married the prince. Well, this isn't your typical Cinderella story. This is a tale of how a lowly blacksmith's apprentice fell in love with a Princess; a Princess who wasn't a typical Princess. This Princess loved anything to do with sporting and fighting while her parents wanted her to be more like her cousin Cinderella. We all know the classic story of a girl who lost her glass slipper running away from her dreams, and racing back to her sad reality of being a peasant maid for her own step-mother and step-sisters, the only family she has left. Yes, this is a story based on none other than the character of Cinderella. However...this rendition of telling the tale is quite different. This quick-read is all written in the form of haikus; a form of poetry that is written in a 5/7/5 syllable count. In this story, you learn about the lives these characters really lived behind the scenes of the happily ever after that we all know to be. You'll discover rich amounts of character development from minor characters and learn major mic-drops about the major characters. I hope you enjoy reading and visualizing the lives of various characters and what they may have been thinking throughout this story! What would you do if a mysterious admirer started sending you love notes under the name 'Prince Charming'? Would you attempt to discover his identity or just enjoy the mystery? "A delicate rose just beginning to bloom was on her bedspread. The color was such a deep hue of red it seemed almost painted; as if should you hold it upside down the color would drip from its petals and onto the floor in scarlet rivers." In this modern take on Cinderella (with a few twists of course), Ailia finds herself exactly in that position with a lovely ball gown and unknown escort.
