In the aftermath of Nadia's fall, Chrome Esten lost everything. His home was left in tatters, and everyone he had ever known was dead and buried as a result of the Fearbringer invasion. However, he has one glimmer of hope yet alive: his best friend Rhian, who he can sense is still alive somewhere. Alongside a mysterious man who knows more than he appears, Chrome sets out to find the truth behind Rhian's disappearance and hopefully bring her home. Meanwhile, Magea Crowne has lost everything she once knew as well, left isolated and wandering with little more than the clothes on her back and fading wisps of memory. She knows that she was once taught by a mentor who left behind a single item for her to find him by, and she begins to search for the man who offered her knowledge on combat with hopes of uncovering the past and where she truly comes from. Chrome and Magea's divergent paths are slated to cross soon though, bringing with them sudden, brutal revelations that neither of them could have ever anticipated. Chrome and Magea have soul ties, and none can anticipate where such will lead them.
