Power, beauty and purity. These three commodities draw the line between the fortunate and the unfortunate, the strong and the weak, the rich and the poor, the immortals and the mortals. There is a high regard for this festivity as it marks the power of the immortals over the mortals. After an accusation of breaking festival rules, a boy named Brionne is forced to surrender his sister, Ruthe, after she reaches the age of a high maiden which sixteen years of age.
