There is only so many curveballs that someone can be thrown. But not for Sadie Wilder, a young girl taking classes at her local Community College, just trying to keep her family together and healthy. She still lives at home in Texas, caring for her younger brother, Gunnar, and even younger sister, Aubrey, while her older brother, Miles, is deployed half-way across the world, and her father is constantly working. But when Gunnar gets a new baseball coach, she starts to realize the extreme disconnect in her current dysfunctional relationship, and slowly feels some random ex-baseball player breaking down her walls.
