Society has fallen in the world of 2030. The world that was once known will never be the same. The Great War claimed the lives of four billion people; souls lost to the fires and the plagues that swept every nation on the face of the Earth. No one knows who really started the attack, who shot first or who cast the first stone is irrelevant now. However, not all is lost. Many survived the initial and secondary bombings, many are living in peace, and many are being governed by kings of cities who are known as a "Baron". New America is war torn and lands are divided. This story follows the life of a hardened Baron named Conrad Delroy 78 years after The Great War of 2030.

"Now, would I go to prison and atone for my sins? Yes, but I cannot. No matter how hard I've tried." ----- "I swear, I'm not crazy! I just...don't know if the truth is better than a lie." ----- "We're better off dead, aren't we?" "...Yeah, we are." "Good." ----- "What's the point in living when you're built without a purpose?" ----- "Deities, gods, whatever you call them, are nothing more than puppets; cruel, unforgivable puppets drenched in the blood of the very people they were supposed to protect." ----- "We've lived a thousand lives, and we were built for only one purpose; for if we weren't, then what right do we have to exist if not to live for solely that purpose? For their entertainment." ----- "We may be without muzzles, but we're still on a leash. Don't forget that." ----- "You lied to me, and that's how all this came to be." ----- To those who find themselves reading this, know that appearances will deceive you. So, until you're safe from them as well, trust everyone fragilely and have your loyalty lie with you, and you alone. (Book one) -Nyxe
