"How do I know you aren't lying to me? You could be one of them for all I know. How do I know I can trust you?" He questioned as he pushed the taller man away from him and stood his ground. He wasn't going down without a fight.
"Ugh, I don't have time for this!" He put his hands to his face and took a step away from Phil. "Fine. You know what, if you want to get yourself killed, go right ahead. But I have a job to do and you better not get in my way, got it?" He asked as he pushed his short hair out of hid face. Phil could now see two brown sparkling eyes glaring back at him.
"Yeah, I got it," Phil replied quietly before he realized what the man had said. "Wait, what kind of job? What is this? Are you with the police?" he asked, slowly backing away from him.
The man in all black scoffed. "No, I'm not with the police. And if you want to make it out of here alive, you'll stop asking questions and hightail it out of here. This is serious work, buddy. Now shoo, I'm busy. Oh, and don't tell anyone you saw me, we would want any more trouble than we're already in." And without another word, he turned on his heels and ran.
Phil watched in awe as he easily scaled the tall building they were standing nearby. He remembered that it used to be a library. The mystery man reached the top quickly, and started off in the direction the the men had gone with Katie. Suddenly, there were loud footsteps headed closer to the opening he was still standing in, and Phil knew he couldn't be there. He stared to run in the opposite direction, and kept going until he wasn't quite sure where he was.
He stopped to catch his breath. 'Who was that?' Phil wondered, as he looked around. He wasn't that far from his apartment building. Apparently he ran in the right direction. 'I have to find them again,' Phil thought as he made his way home. He was definitely going to be late for dinner.
