Laura isn't like any other twenty year old women. She is a very successful horror/ mystery writer with a dark past that she wishes to keep hidden. A past that still haunts her in her dreams almost every night. Then there is always the fact that the only man that she had ever considered a role model in her life is diagnosed with cancer. As if all this wasn't enough, someone wants her dead. She doesn't know who or why, but after too many close calls and after too many ominous letters, she can no longer deny the truth.

Jake is a ex-cop with interesting past as well, and with an interesting tie with Laura. He is Laura's 25 year old step-brother who wants to only protect her... from her past and present. He knows that something terrible happened to her before they met; something that causes her to distrust people. However, he needs to protect her from death at the moment. Jake is protective of his family, and all she is is family, right? Or will the time he spends with her to protect Laura turn into something more? Just how strong is his love for her? Just how strong is a sibling's love?

WATTPAD ORIGINAL EDITION Seven letters, seven confessions, seven clues. Elliot Parker has what he needs to find out who killed his best friend... But is he hunting down the killer? Or is the killer hunting him? ***** When Colton Crest returns, unharmed, to his small town after mysteriously disappearing for two months, his best friend Elliot Parker breathes a sigh of relief. But days later, on the night before graduation, Elliot finds Colton in the lake. Dead. And on the day of his funeral, Elliot finds a letter in his jacket pocket with four words that send him spiralling: I killed Colton Crest. There are six more letters to find, six more confessions about Colton, six more clues to uncover why he was murdered. Elliot has no choice but to play this sick scavenger hunt, and with each new revelation, he begins to question whether he really knew Colton - or anyone else in that little town of dark secrets.
