  Willow Locke, a teenage immigrant living in turn-of-the century Manhattan, must find the strength within her to protect her family from an insidious corporate plot to destroy the unions.  Her father and sister are primary targets, marked for death. By chance she falls in with reclusive fallen inventor, Nikola Tesla, who begins to build the weapons she needs to single handedly combat the deadly Pinkertons, a private militia hired by the corporation. Her partner in the investigation is an English schoolboy and a brilliant intellectual, James Whitcomb. Just as their partnership as detectives begins to blossom into love, or infatuation, James encounters a deeper evil within the corporation, an undying thing called the Amilech. The revelation comes too late to save him from infection. Can Willow save the boy she loves and protect her family? No one is safe. Danger is everywhere in this high-tech supernatural thriller.

"Allowing myself to feel this happiness, to feel you...this is me forgiving myself." He kissed me, calming the raging storm in me and igniting a new one. I wasn't sure which would cause more destruction, but I knew only one had pretty blue eyes and a effortless smile that could convince me it was all worth it. It probably was.

While the Haven PD is overworked handling the riots raging through the city, Troy and his partner Jimmy are given an airship, wherupon they begin their investigation. Soon after they discover that the "anarchists" are no mere amateurs after the two pirvate investigators find traces of powerful pre-war explosives containing magical glyphs at the site of the destroyed warehouse. It aint lookin' good as Troy and Jimmy begin to uncover a plot to steel the city's gold reserves and overthrow the government, causing Troy's ideals of loyalty and patriotism to clash as the line between allies and enemies becomes blurred during the ultimate showdown that will determine the fate of liberty and freedom within Haven.
