After finally deciding she was ready to come out to her father, it hurt like an arrow to the chest when Aspen was kicked out of the house.

Thinking she had nothing left in the world, she attempted suicide.

Instead, she was captured and forced into a magical world- but it was nothing like the books she had read.

I stood at the edge the wooden bridge, staring down at the rushing rapids below me. A salty breeze tossed by hair about. I looked up at the clouded sky, letting tears stream down my cheeks.

I took in a deep breath- possibly my last- and let go of the ledge. My body plunged downward, and I squeezed my eyes shut tight. But impact with the water never came.

I inhaled sharply and opened my eyes to find myself hovering over the water. As I stared in shock, I felt my body being hoisted back up my strong hands. I looked around in confusion, but was struck with a stinging pain on my skull, and I blacked out.
