When a disease kills many people around the world, transforming them into monsters, people around the world are shaken, and civilization itself is destroyed. 

However, these monsters are not the main plot of the story.  This story revolves around a young girl named Evie who must protect a group of children on her own. 

At first they must rely on others, but when something incredible happens, she finds her life being changed forever.
