The biggest flaw of humans mentality is the inevitable fear of death. To reduce death and violence rates associated with said fear, multiple elite families joined together to found the Vulcan. Hundreds of years later, the Vulcan is now a government who's job is to protect citizens of the Rock from sciences, most heavily astronomy. The ban of studying science is proven extremely effective but just underneath is a strong network of those rich and poor working together to expose the Vulcan's manipulation of the common people.

During the final decades of the twenty first century, a rogue brown dwarf star passed through the solar system and its gravity threw the Earth out of orbit around the sun.
