He turned around and smiled. Oh my lord. This guy was even hotter up close. I shoved all the thoughts from my head and said "Hi. My name's Ava." He smiled again and said "Nice to meet you. I'm Zander." That's all he could say before I kissed him. He immediately tensed up, but then he did something I didn't expect. He kissed me back and grabbed my waist, pulling me closer. I opened my mouth a little in shock, and his tongue went in my mouth. He tasted like rainwater and peppermint. Despite myself, I moaned a little when he deepened the kiss even further. After what felt like 2 hours, we broke apart. "I'm sorry," he said blushing a little "but it just kinda clicked." he explained, rubbing the back of his neck. "It's okay." I said, also starting to blush a little. For 2 minutes the awkward just settled between us, and I swear it was tangible. He broke the silence first, finally meeting my eyes and not staring at his high-tops. "So...", he started and chuckled nervously "Could I get your number?" I stared at him for a second wondering if it would even be a good idea, when he said "I know we don't know each other, but I felt fireworks just now, and even if we don't go on a date, I'd love to see you again." Decades ago, the world came to a halt as humanity knew it. Wars spurred the worldwide deathrates to a new high, businesses closed, and much of the new technology stopped working altogether. As if life could not get much worse for the surviving humanity that was left, creatures of the night came forth from the shadows, ready to claim what was left of the world's society and kill those who opposed the new regimen. However, all of this was unknown to a young woman you lived with her small family in a quiet town, hidden from the chaos of the outside world. The young woman who lived in this town was called Delilah, and this is her story. Please note that this book is a slow-burn. Yes, there is romance. Yes, like my characters you may be left wanting more. Good stuff takes time, give this book a try. Additionally, I started writing this book while I was fresh out of High School, I am now a junior in college. While the writing was not necessarily bad, it has improved greatly with the more recent chapters. He's scared that once she gets to know him she'll leave like everyone else. But what they both don't expect is that music has a way of bringing people together.
