Just as I seen the last nurse turn her back, I jetted out of the door, hugging Lola within the carrier for extra security. Afraid that someone might be on to me, I ran down each flight of stairs non stop until I reached the hospital's parking lot. My throat became raw as I attempted to catch my breath in the cold night's air. Just as I began to breathe normally again, I was blinded by headlights from the far right end of the parking lot. I threw my arm up in an attempt to block the light. Suddenly, I heard the car's engine rev and the tires screeched simultaneously. "SHIT!" I panicked. I quickly started for the main road. "Please God, don't let em get to my baby. He can have me Lord, just please protect my baby, Lord please!" I prayed aloud. I ran as fast as I could, making a right on the first block I approached as the all black 2014 Chevrolet Impala made a sharp turn out of the hospital's parking lot. Not looking back once, I quickly ran left into a convenience store and ducked behind the counter. I hugged my sweet baby as tight as I could while repetitively calling out Jesus's name. I looked up into the Arabian clerk's eyes as the both of us heard the screeching of tires in the store's parking lot. Tears began to fall. "Backroom." He suggested in an almost inaudible accent.
