Growing up, Joanna Pricket was bullied for being the tallest and heaviest girl in her school. For years, she tried to make herself feel smaller by slouching and hugging herself at the waist to hide her height and body. No one dared hang out with Giant Joanna. The social outcast. But not anymore. The first year of High School, she came in with a bang. No longer self loathing, she embraced confidance like an old friend. Now, owning her height and working her newly slimmed curves, her commanding presence demanded immediate attention. When Senior Year comes around, she's the most popular, envied, admired and wanted girl in the school. She relishes in the limelight and is even considered the school Princess. But all those years of torment had changed her, making her less the person she wanted to be and more the person she hated. She was, in a word, a bitch. She realizes this when she meets Jacob Abercrombie. Closet-poet and aspiring film editor, the last thing Jacob expected was to get her Royal Highness as his partner for their English report. Her prickly attitude was, at first, startling. Although, after seeing little hints of the good person that Jo can occasionally be, he's determined to remind her and the rest of the school that her thorns are just for show, and that on the inside, she's as sweet as a pineapple.

"They say polar opposites attract." Natalie White thinks that's complete nonsense. As the mayor's daughter and the undisputed queen bee of California High, she's spent her entire life getting exactly what she wants. Feared, admired, and never challenged, Natalie has no intention of changing who she is for anyone. If being the villain in someone else's story means getting ahead, then so be it. But everything changes when Xavier Russo arrives. A scholarship student from Italy with a dangerous reputation and a permanent scowl, Xavier couldn't care less about Natalie's status, wealth, or influence. Unlike everyone else, he's not intimidated by her-and he's certainly not interested in playing by her rules. Xavier came to California High for a fresh start, not to deal with a spoiled rich girl determined to make his life miserable. Yet the more Natalie pushes, the harder he pushes back, turning their rivalry into an all-out war. She refuses to back down. He refuses to be controlled. And when two people who hate each other this much collide, sparks are bound to fly. Told through alternating POVs, The Mean Girl and The Black Eye follows two stubborn enemies as they navigate rivalry, attraction, secrets, and the scars of their pasts. The question is: will they destroy each other, or discover that sometimes the person you can't stand is the one you can't stay away from? ⚠ Warning: Mature themes, strong language, graphic fight scenes, violence, PTSD, and emotional trauma.
