Scare Tactics

This is both my first story I'm uploading to Wattpad and my entry in the The Magicians Battle the Beast contest hosted by SyFy. This was a challenge as per the rules, there is a maximum of 1,500 words and for me, that's like mininum depending on what it is I am writing. Indeed by the time I was done, I had written well over 3,000 words in my story so I had to go through, taking out a word here and there, then went from surgically removing things with a scalpel to taking a giant butcher knife to it. Unfortunately, entire scenes and even some dialogue had to be removed so I can condense this enough to follow contest rules. For example, I included two scenes with Jane and even provide a brief explanation as to why Kady is there with them in this instance. Also in the longer version, what happens to Quentin is much worse and pretty messed up. Due to the changes, I even had to change the title of my story too. I will provide the longer version that includes the needed context, but that one obviously won't be part of the contest. Hopefully you'll still enjoy it and hopefully it is worthy enough to be chosen by SyFy. Oh and see if you notice a particular and familiar reference I make in here.
