Running, it was always a passion of Maddison's but now the only running she can do is from the past. Maddison Heart was the reason her mother was pushed away from her family, Maddison was the offspring of a love affair that in the books of her grandmother were sinful. She always pushed herself to impress the people who would never even pass her a glance. Yet now she is the only thing they can think of, the said reason for her mother, Anne Heart's death. Maddison is broken, lost and is missing a part of her life that she needs more than anything. Her mother's death, and the face of her mother's killer. Memories are something you can run from, you can block but not forever and she will learn this lesson from the people she didn't even know existed. Eve stopped living the day her brother died. Since then, she's existed in the quiet spaces-avoiding the world, avoiding the pain, avoiding anything that might make her feel again. Until Evan. There's something different about him. Something unsettling. He looks at her like she's fragile... and dangerous at the same time. Like he knows something she doesn't. Because Evan is tied to death in a way he can't escape. He doesn't choose who dies-but he's always there when it happens. And now... he's always with her. But Eve isn't like anyone else. Where Evan brings endings, she carries something else entirely- something that shouldn't exist. Something that could change everything. Falling for him feels inevitable. Surviving it... isn't.
