Tawny Brown is a normal girl. Or is she? 

After finding a golden machanical eagle in her room, she discovers a while new world, connected to this one. It is called Terra, were magical, almost alien things are. 

When the eagle leads her into Terra, Tawny meets Echo. He is a boy from the Electric Clan, but was exiled for giving information away to rival clans.

Together, Tawny, Echo, and the eagle, Sky, go on a grand adventure, were they met Kai, the goddess of the sea. Kai treks of a prophecy in which someone from another Relm becomes the Guardian of the Shell.

No one knows what the Shell is, but it is very powerful and dangerous. It could mean the end of the Terra Relm.
