Society bowed down to the selection of powerful individuals who ran the Side, not a doubt about the whole ideal. Everyone is born with some type of power, symboled with a special mark. If you didn't, you were killed. This deemed who was in the GoldenSide. The most powerful marks made it. Now, Layben is throwing that all off course.
