Clairen Bell Valentine has a very girly name, but he doesn't mind it, and neither does Manny Glen Patrick. They meet in kindergarten and instantly are attached to one another. Clairen's parents are shocked he even made a friend considering him being so different.
Freshman year Manny is lured into popularity by Lucy, a girl he has liked since 7th grade and known since kindergarten, not noticing behind his back his new 'friends' are bullying Clairen into leaving Manny alone, saying that he is too clingy. Slowly and soon they were finally able to drag Manny into the popular side. Leaving Clairen by himself and even more isolated and secluded from society than before, and Manny doesn't know this nor care, seeing as he forgot about him for the next 2 years of high school.
One day in Biology they get assigned seats next to each other, and when Manny asks who he is, he is awestruck when he meets those bright blue eyes again. Manny tries to bring back his and Claire's old relationship, but quickly realizes it's going to be harder than he thought. Clairen hates doing this, but Manny left him, and now getting close again, makes him scared he'll just end up leaving again. As soon as they are close to clicking again, by the people Manny calls his friends, Clairen gets forced back into his shell the consist of him and his family.
This time may be for good.

It talks about abuse and there are some scenes where a character is having a panic attack. Warning: This book contains mental issues such as depression, schizophrenia, and others. If you're sensitive to that kind of thing, then you should probably think twice before reading this. Of course, if you want to read it and you're sensitive, I'm not stopping you. This book only touches upon the subjects; It doesn't go deep into suicide attempts and voices. Remember despite the hate these mental illnesses receive, I believe you. Mental illnesses are no joke, they're not something I try to use for views. I am not hating on the illnesses. I know it's hard, but they are relevant to the book so I had to include them. If you're feeling depressed, please talk to a counsellor.
