Rose is a thirteen year old girl. Her parents died in a fire when she was young. Her sisters and her left their house and were orphans and got no help. Rose's three sisters die of starvation. Rose is starving, sad, and left alone. And the worst part is that she has depression, and there's no way to heal depression. It can barely even be managed.
Or can it?
Meanwhile, another boy Quintin is living with depression. He is small and flimsy, and there are two kids at his school that take advantage of that and try to physically kill him. Yet his friends stand up for him. But all of this violence just gets to Quintin's heart, and leaves him with depression.
Quintin and Rose meet on the bench of the Redberry in Newtown, PA. It is like love at first sight. Luckily, they keep seeing each other in town and talking and talking and getting to know each other. This awkward relationship continues for a while, until Quintin asks Rose out.
The romance that this story holds will show you how love can heal sadness, and sadness? It can do nothing but vanish in the end. With the help of love, can Quintin and Rose get through the harsh life of depression, or will they thrive and leave it behind?
