A lifelong feud between two families impacted everyone there on. Much like the tale of Romeo and Juliet, this feud was a pointless egotistical feud, but instead of ending in a combined funeral, and a truce, it ended with the division of one town. One very wealthy, fortunate, and dependent side, and one less fortunate, independent side. Two different worlds, that soon will encounter a rude awakening.

Kara: I was raised on the wealthy, and self righteous side of the divide. I was raised an only child, therefore, my father was very protective, and never let me to myself for more than five minutes. I dreampt of the day when I would have the choice to be independent. One day when I was eight I ran into a boy, my age, who showed just how much I really wanted to be independent. I really liked this boy. I wanted to befriend him. Problem; He was an Outsider.

Kai: I spent near my entire life being trained by my mother to earn the trust of a Mortensen, and overthrow the entire Prideland. I grew up on the poor, undeveloped side of the divide, and I yearned for the day I could be as lucky as a Pridelander, but stuck to my independent ways, and continued to be raised to hate all Pridelanders until one day I met one who proved to me that not everyone is the same. I was in love with her. Problem; She was a Pridelander.

The only thing Mia Hope has in common with Jake Carpenter, Artwood High's most popular quarterback, is a love for the coffee served at The Coffee Pod. He wants her to tutor him - and if she can do it without a single cup of coffee, he'll pay her triple. Easy. Nothing could go wrong, right? ***** When Jake learns he's failing English, he knows he needs to pull his grades up or he'll risk being kicked off the football team. He strikes a deal with the elusive Mia - the quiet girl with secrets. If she can't go without a single cup of coffee, she has to tutor him for free. If she can, he'll pay her triple, and with Christmas around the corner, there's nothing Mia needs more than money.
