Gerard is a single parent now, finally matching paces with his best friend, Frank, who is also a single parent. Lindsey and Gerard aren't worse off than Jamia and Frank, and maybe Gerard's thankful for that. He's also thankful for Frank, who's always there for him.

He's homeschooled as well, which means he only ever leaves to get groceries. For how little he leaves the house, and how closed off he is, it's quite a wonder how he met Frank. Frank is an extrovert and he kind of lacks boundaries when it comes to making friends. He's curious and speaks his mind constantly, which sometimes gets him into trouble. It must be good for something though, because not many people bother to figure out Gerard.
