Avva is a world where weapons solve problems, almost everyone is Endowed, and belonging to a Nexus, or being protected by one, is the best way to survive. An escape attempt from a controlling Nexus leader lands Rena with members of Orenda, an infamous Nexus known for helping the less fortunate and poking their nose in secrets. Despite the frigid reception from some of the members, she agrees to join them after they help her, and surprises herself by getting comfortable; something she thought she'd never be able to do. Just as she's starting to settle in though, Orenda makes a startling discovery about Avva that will rip away their grasp on reality and any hope of a normal future for them.
