(Formerly called The Boy With No Shadow) Wendi Archer's life never has been perfect. In fact, it's been far from it for quite a while. Her mother can't seem to stop drinking and disappears for weeks at a time, leaving her to care for her two younger sisters. She's constantly struggling to juggle school, the expectations of her boyfriend, her job at the C Cafe, and keeping her sisters happy while trying to avoid abusive cheerleaders and stiffling a burning hate for her mother. But when a mysterious parentless boy moves into her apartment building, things start to change. As she tries to uncover the secrets of his past, she starts to suspect that Peter's backstory is more supernatural than what she expected. She's never seen him drive a car, yet he always seems to get where he needs to pretty quickly. At night, she sees strange lights coming from his apartment and hears the strange boy talking to someone that's not there. However Wendi takes for Peter's potential insanity and her mind playing tricks on her may turn out to be something more magical.
