All Abigail wants is a quiet life where she's free to live as she would choose, and not as others would choose for her.

Rachel would give anything not to move from her comfortable life in New York to Charleston because of her father's job.

Neither girl's wishes come true, yet not in the way you would expect. Once in Charleston, Rachel runs into Abigail--literally, but she doesn't stop there. In fact, her momentum carries her another yard down the corridor, leaving her to stumble to a halt and calm her racing heart. As she gets to know Abigail, two seemingly minor details nearly cause her to faint.

She fell through Abigail.
And Abigail claims to have been born in the 1800s.

Thrown into a mystery she can't resist, Rachel instantly begins trying to piece together the mysterious conditions of Abigail's death that Abigail doesn't even know or understand herself. But as the truth comes to light, another puzzle becomes more and more evident.

There must be a reason Abigail can exist in a world that should have stolen life from her. And that same reason could be the source of the shadow that stalks Rachel and Abigail's home. It's a mere flicker in the corner of their eyes, a darkness that waits in the fringes of their vision, but it is there. And, as quickly becomes evident, it's intentions are sinister.

It's a race against time as Rachel and Abigail try to set everything right. But what they don't know is whatever they do now will ripple throughout history, and could potentially alter even their own existence. Can they seal the rift that has opened in the Riddle Plantation? Or will monsters from the shadowlands overrun them all?
