Heather Nelson and Lucas Richards are very different people. Heather is the popular girl who has it all. Lucas is the normal, quiet guy who seems to be content. But they have something in common; their worlds are falling apart at the seams and there is nothing they can do but watch. They are both seniors in high school, struggling through life and trying their hardest to make it out okay, amidst various pressures that beat down on them relentlessly.

Heather goes to Johnston High, a higher class public high school, and Lucas is a student at Elmbury High, an average, everyday school. During their senior year, they must struggle alone, but college might have the help they need...
