To a machine, time is irrelevant. To a machine, the objective always is achieved. The Summation, a network of Artificial Intelligence is the new ruler of the world. The power of the Summation grew out of man's complacency. His dependence led to his annihilation.
It is the year, 2052 and a group 150 human beings, soldiers, survivalists, civilians, and scientists are the last survivors on the planet. Together in a bunker in Central California, their continued existence depends on their ability to escape to a rocket ship in an underground silo. It will take them to a space station two hundred miles above the Earth.
Two men, Lieutenant Christopher Dowling and his soldiers, along with his nemesis Ford Hackett leader of the survivalists, must lead the civilians in a convoy over 800 miles of deadly terrain pursued by an army of 15,000 robots. With nowhere to hide their only objective-survive.
Our cities are now no more than large empty ghost towns, the drought has lasted over 50 years turning most of the United States into a desert wasteland. Around the globe, food and water supplies no longer exist, systematically poisoned by the Summation.
The machine's only objective-eliminate all human beings. Time is irrelevant and the objective always is achieved.

"Oh, I understand." I didn't blink as I spoke. "But the only way I'm ever stepping foot inside your set is if you force me."
"Our contestants are volunteers," Ms. Holle went on. "We've always run the games that way and forever will. We're not accustomed to forcing anyone to partake, and that opportunity will be extended to you too."
