"One year ago I made a deal with Darkness."
After being roofied and waking up a prisoner, 16 year old Bella Swan makes a deal with the strange entity who approached her in her mind and calls herself Darkness. Darkness slaughters the rapists, resulting in what the press labels the most brutal double homicide in U.S. history. Ever since then, Darkness has existed at the back of Bella's mind, always listening, always whispering, steadily growing more powerful.
A year after the 'Incident', a now seventeen year old Bella decides to move to Forks, away from everyone who knows what happened. It's there she meets the mysterious Cullens, strange, beautiful creatures that Darkness labels as vampires. Both Bella and Darkness are drawn, inexplicably, to the beautiful, icy Rosalie Cullen, a beautiful vampire with a mate of her own. Emmett.
As the year unfolds, Bella struggles with both holding back Darkness and fighting her urges to Claim Rosalie as her own- by force, if necessary. This is something her human side does not want to do, what her inner Darkness is ready to kill to Claim the woman she loves.
