It was 7 A.M. when the other car came barreling down the highway. It was 7:30 when it slammed into the tiny black Nissan head-on, crushing the frame of the car. It was 7:45 when the ambulance arrived, and it was 8:00 when Amity O'Sullivan's heart stopped beating. It was still 8 when she was staring into the seven black hoods of the Council, still frozen at 8 o' clock when she made her decision. Time stood still at 8 when she fell through the floor. It was 12 o' clock when Amity woke up in a hospital bed, and 12:05 when she was told about her Near-Death Experience. It was 12:30 when she was told she had traded her soul and services to a Grim Reaper in order to keep living. Now Amity has a job to do in order to keep her life, and she can't always do the job with a sense of quick wit. She must keep drifting spirits out of the way of the living. This is her job now.
