Nessa and her father just moved out of the city to a small - almost off the grid - town. Nessa spent the summer months alone in their new house, her father spends almost all his time at the hospital, operating in the ER. Other than the new house, nothing was too out of the ordinary; she was still the loner that she had always been. Other than the returning night terrors, the sudden hostility, and the recurring strangers that she mysteriously keeps bumping into.
Nessa feels like she should be concerned for her safety but she isn't, she doesn't feel the need to confided to someone about the strangers that keep reappearing in her sights, she does feel the need to find out who they are and what they want.
