"We're enjoying the last of 2016, silly!"
"But you know I hate parties."
"Oh come on. You've never even been to one. How can you hate them?"
"I just know I do. I don't like people and from what I see in the movies, I think I hate them."
"Oh my god. Experience life for once!! Jeez, you're always stuck in another world. Did you ever think that maybe there's actual fun in real parties?"

Lucy pulls me through the masses of people as she heads towards the kitchen. She stops by the entryway to the kitchen. "Stay here. I'll be right back with drinks. Maybe talk to someone. You may end up liking them."
I sigh. I hate people. I always have. I don't need to like anymore people. Or at least no one right now, in this incredibly uncomfortable, anxiety-provoking situation. Why do all these people like parties anyways? I always feel so violated when I'm in big groups of people. Ugh. I love Lucy, but good lord. I would much rather be home looking like a hobo on New Year's Eve than at this party.
