Set in the 1940's. World War II had just broke out last year in Europe. Desperate to get away and escape the world, Autumn Phillips hid away from the outbreak in an underground bomb shelter. 
One day a handsome young man named Louis Tomlinson, a British soldier, was shot in the leg while in battle. He dragged himself towards a weird shaped door in the ground, only to be met with Autumn, who nurses him until he gets better. 

She is willing to stay in the shelter forever, just as long as she is safe. Her definition of safety from the shelter has kept her away from the world, preventing her from experiences.
