Annalise Williams spends her summers with her grandparents at their home in Savannah Georgia. The visits become more frequent do to a decline in her mothers health. Eventually Annalise and her mama move in with Grandma Lynn and Grandpa Bob.. With her mama being ill and only getting worse Annalise relies on her best friend Chaz, the boy down the street with the scraggly blonde hair and the bluest eyes, the boys she's know since she met him down by the old Mill when she was 6. Annalise and Chaz's adventures are all that's keeping her together, they seem almost magical. Things happen that they can't explain, and no one believes them. Only Annalise and Chaz know the truth and when her mama passes away she needs him and these adventures more than ever. Everything comes to an abrupt halt when Annalise's grandparents decide to send her to boarding school. They think her stories are silly and that its time for her to grow up.
Annalise decides while away at school to write her stories down and create a book to share her adventures with others. Not realizing that writing these things down and reading them aloud would open not only her eyes but the worlds to the magic that surrounds us.
