When a secret lab of the reunited soviet union is revealed, people are horrified about what they found, mutated plants animals and humans. The mutated animals and humans carried diceases and didn't react like they where supposed to, They just wanted to kill. This unleashed a Third World war between the Soviet Union and America. They used Europe as a battlefield which resulted in destruction.
After the third world war a lot of diseases that were caried by the mutants are still there, and a lot of people are still dying because of it, they need to find an antidote

Many years have passed since the war between the humans and monsters. The humans won, and shut the monsters in a place called the underground. Keeping them there with a magical barrier, it took seven usable souls to shatter the barrier, but being monsters, their souls didn't work. Instead, they had to use human souls to break the barrier, and even then, humans were not likely to fall in. Because the human waste system ends up in the underground, the monsters are informed of what's going on up on the surface, and have developed human-like lifestyles, which included scholarship, friendships and the like, but it seemed, that the monsters were eager to get back on the surface again. Six humans were unlucky enough to fall into the underground, and the leader of the monsters, Asgore Dreemurr killed these humans to use their souls for removing the barrier. Asgore thought that those humans were the only ones that would fall in, but he was wrong. Two more humans fell in, but their souls were lost before Asgore could even use them, and those soulless ghosts were doomed to haunt the underground. One of the shittiest book you can read, or maybe one of your favorites. During WWII. So basically Axes and Allies. Good luck, there are 2 parts. Oh and, be aware that you can find hard topics (like lemons, or depression (Idk if it's in this book or in the second part), and... I don't recall the rest, but heh, read it if you want). No pressure, and take your time. This book is shitty, really, but I find it nice when I was writing it as a teenage.
