A short story in where I contemplate in my head about my past.

Sandra Smith had the perfect life. A loving father and mother, a beautiful home and near flawless grades (not that it mattered much for a 5th grader, anyhow). But that all takes a turn for the worse when she loses her father.

This is a story I've been wanting to tell ever since I started writing about my experience being sexually bullied in middle school. When Netflix's new series "13 Reasons Why" asked me to participate in this promotion for their "What If" contest, I saw it as a chance to share a time when I was on the other side of sexual bullying, a time I wish I could go back and change.

What if you could turn back time and change only one aspect of your life? What would you have the power to change?

I may not have been strong then, but I am strong now.

For a competition

This story is one that I have wanted to tell for a very long time but was scared of the consequences of doing so. I never thought it could change my life or anyone else but it has and I feel the undying guilt and wonder of , what if? What if I told them? What if I wasn't there? What if I hadn't been the girl with a curious mind? What If I didn't see? Would I be less broken? Would I let people know the real me more? I ask these questions on an everyday basis and I figure I mind as well let the strangers of the world in for I can't let anyone else. For I have not told a single soul since the incident.

Hi. Cassandra here, and I have a few regrets. Scratch that. A lot regrets, but let's start with high school, freshmen year.

Fear. That's what keeps us from doing what we really want. Whether it's fear of rejection, embarrassment, or being hurt, one way or another we've all experienced it. And for one girl it was all of the above. Fear is what lead her to make that decision and possibly her biggest regret.
