Everybody knows that one girl. The girl that loiters around campus. The girl who always has a smile on her face. Behind that smile is regret...and words that never slipped the mouth. Those unspoken words are what saddens her every day. If she could've just said them...how would've things turned out?

My what if story

Entry for the #thirteenreasonswhy contest. What if you knew someone was your true love? What would you do if knew you could be with them for a night, absolutely alone? You would go with them, wouldn't you? But what if you wouldn't, or rather couldn't, do it? What if you lost them forever because of that? It seems impossible to write a novel in 500 words. One thing I wish I could have changed.

What if I had said what I meant?

What I chose to do.

I had been a loner in primary school. Most guys I disliked but there was one I didn't. It was one of the moments I wish I had upped my courage. The moment where I should have told the dying boy I liked him.

This is a true story about a boy named Josiah who was in my third grade class. Everyone picked on him because he was the new kid and didn't have any friends, and worst of all, my teacher didn't do enough to stop it. None of us knew that Josiah not only had a war going on at school, but an even worse war happening at home.

What if my she had cared? What if she hadn't chose drugs over flesh and blood? What if I told her how I felt? And then there's him. What if I had been on him more about his health? Would he still be alive or would we be in the same place we are in now? Would we have been a "normal" family?

Nellie regrets that she was not brave enough to date Levi in High School. But would life really be better could she turn back time? What other aspects of her life would the simple word yes have changed? And what if Destiny would find her a second time? This short story has been published for the #13ReasonsWhyContest and may give you a little taste of my next story. Thanks so much everyone for reading and the lovely feedback.
