This (yet unfinished book) is set in the unforgiving landscape of 16th-century Romania, the story follows Ileana, a young woman nagivating a harsh rigid, patriarchal society, Set in a small cottage and having to live with her two sisters and a deeply neglectful father her days and the ones of her sisters are almost entirely consumed by grueling work, bartering or farming in order to be able to bring enough food on the table. But just as she begins to appear to have carved out a semblance of autonomy something deeply rooted inside her will show her just how much harsher life can become.

Victoria Beam also known as Vicky is a 15 year old girl who was soon to be 16. She is a straight A student who is free spirited and humble. She was the first born for her parent's Mr and Mrs Beam who was apart if the underworld, otherwise called Mafia or Crimelords. She had a younger sibling Maria and a best friend who became a sister, her name is Haley. On Vicky's 16th birthday, she receives the news that changed her life forever.
