The world will hurt it again, and again, and again, until it is no longer the innocent being they once were. And the being learns. Learns that kindness is not always returned. That trust is a fragile thing, easily shattered beneath careless hands. That love, though sweet as nectar, will rot away with time. That hope, no matter how bright it shines, will sputter out and die. The darkness consumes this being, taints it until feathers of pure white melt into feathers of the deepest abyss. Also, I've got a "thing" for the Broadway musical 'Anastasia' and the idea to write a sort of mirror to it was rather appealing, so here you go, I guess. Now, updates.... I'm 15, and a freshman. Needless to say, it's going to take a looooooooong time for me to complete this story. Like, a long, LONG time. Yeet. Sorry. Oh, oh, oh! Not to mention, this is the FIRST draft of the story, so there will most definitely be some rewriting going on when it reaches its later stages and of course, the good ol' editing.

The tenth entry of the 2020-2021 Film Journal is "1917". First, I discuss my highly unique experience of seeing this film which broke my hiatus from movie theaters caused by the pandemic. Then, I take a hard-look at the narratives of war and how this film, perhaps the best picture of this cinematic year, portrays, subverts, and discusses those themes through visual and film storytelling.

Elsie has come to fancy painting her lips with a vibrant red rouge, but her husband disapproves. So much that he wastes the last seconds they spend together before he goes off to war telling her to remove it and throw it away. She does as told begrudgingly, and starts to get used to life on her own while he's away. When she starts to feel lonely, she contemplates striking up a friendship with her neighbor even though she has some past, one-sided resentment towards the other woman. While on the fence about it, Margaret seems to make the first move for her. Elsie eventually comes to realize just how wrong she's got Margaret after actually getting to know her.

Set against the backdrop of World War I, this collection of short stories captures the harrowing experiences of soldiers caught in the grip of a global conflict. While these narratives are works of fiction, they are inspired by the real-life struggles faced by soldiers, nurses, and families during this tumultuous time. The age of imperialism in the Southeast Asian region is coming to an end. The Philippines has won against the Americans in the Philippine American war in 1901, the Dutch East Indies has been liberated by the revolutionaries, Malaysia has been able to finish fight for independence, with the support of the previous nations by 1906. In 1907 French Indochina has gotten their own revolution, with the support of the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Japanese. By 1910 all of South East Asia has been United under the name of the Southeast Asian Federation. By then they had been building their nation for the changes happening in the world. Mass Industrialization was happening in all of South East Nation for what is to come. And by 1912 the Federation has been able to meet the Industrialization of the European powers. Not enough to rival them, but enough to put up a good fight. The Philippines, and Indonesia has the capability to build their own Dreadnoughts. And 15 of them none the less in one go, with the support of the Resources of all of South East Asia. But in 1914 that is all to change.
