Two Gays in the 1920s, navigating their feeling for each other.

A thoughtfully written parody of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, except it is written completely different and with an entirely different outcome that changes the entire tone and purpose of this story. This parody of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (I believe you should read his original work before mine, if you want to see how truthful it is to the original story and/or to see the changes) focuses around Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby's relationship, which slowly blossoms from neighbors, to friends, and to more. 1922: Post-War! 2 lost souls meet! It was 1922 and the war was only 4 years over. Peace had reigned for 4 years and they were still rebuilding, still trying to find out who had really died in the war. It was tedious work and every time Erwin saw the many lists of missing persons, he had the faces of his fallen soldiers before his eyes. The commander had not slept for a long time, or at least not very much. For the nightmares were something that opium would help against at most, and he would not take that under any circumstances. Erwin needed all his senses, so he accepted not sleeping for a day or two before complete exhaustion caught up with him.

In 1922, tea-totaling police chief Harry French has all but eliminated the illegal liquor trade in Columbus, Ohio, but a new batch of hooch known as "the Devil's due" is sending people to the hospital in droves. When one of her best friends falls victim and the police fail to take action, 16 year old Druscilla "Dru" Faust is on the case, using her knowledge of chemistry and investigative technique, she'll have to find the bootleggers before they find her.
