I lived in the small town of Bluewater, Arizona. With only 748 people in the town, everyone knows everyone. Even though we all knew each other’s names, we didn’t know anything about our neighbors. The town reminded me of the lame ghost towns you see in the movies. The old jailhouse, my Dad happens to be the sheriff; the old buildings that seem like they are truly haunted. I was born in that town and never left it, neither did my parents. Even though we never left we still had a decent life. There is an old movie theater but they play the new movies that come out and a shopping strip with different types of stores. Even though life in Bluewater was great, there was still one flaw that will never go away. Since I can remember, I have been able to see spirits. They follow me around with their expressions always full of despair and absolutely unbearable to look at. Some are hostile and cry out to me, I ignore them, hoping one day they will just disappear. I regret not listening to them, because now I’m dead.

Dess Is a 14 year old when the world was changed and at just when she thought everything was over she's Meeting this group of survivors who changed her life for the better.

He transformed into a monster. He had scales on the sides of his body. His face was almost human but the monster part took over more. He had claws and a long dragons tail. I got scared. "Please don't eat me!" I backed up against the wall. He got closer to me. I was so scared. "Please!" I had tears running down my cheeks. He took my arms and pinned me up against the wall. His tongue was like a snakes tongue. He licked my neck. I was crying. He hissed in my ear before he talked. "I'll make a deal with you little human. I will let you live. IF. You belong only to me. I will come visit you every night and leave before the sun rises." I stared at him. Belong only to him? I wouldn't have a boyfriend. Would he make me do things I didn't want to do? Would he get mad one day and eat me? But I couldn't think about that right now. It was either this or die. I sighed so I could speak clearly. "Yes." One night, a creature snuck into Sammy's bedroom. Instead of choosing to eat her, he offers her a once in a lifetime opportunity. Sammy's life has been going downhill since her father's passing. So her agreeing to belong to this creature was just the tip of the iceberg. Soon she becomes involved in a world she never knew existed.
