Adriana Vázquez and Miles dated for a year on Earth 1610 before he screwed it up. So, when he finds himself somehow on Earth 42 and he see's Adrianna again, the thinks it's his chance to make up for the past. That is until he sees who she's dating. She's dating him but from another Earth. While trying to find out how to escape the 42nd Earth, he's also trying to mend his relationship with the girl he once loved. But, it's hard focusing on one thing when your dad could possibly die any minute and you're an Earth away.

So, she becomes the temporary lone hero and left to not only defend the city but the universe as well.
