When Ethan asks his grandmother what she's always wanted to do, she gives him a list of dreams she's spent a lifetime putting off: see the flowers in Bloemfontein, stand on Table Mountain, drive a Kia Sorento, visit New York and watch Moulin Rouge! on Broadway, and, most of all, see the mountains of Switzerland. Ethan decides he's going to make them happen. What begins as a simple list becomes years of saving, travelling, unexpected friendships, viral videos, strangers who want to help, and memories neither of them expected to make. But somewhere along the way, Ethan becomes so obsessed with making sure they have enough time that he forgets to actually live the time they have. Because the truth is, seventeen years was never a promise. Neither is tomorrow. 87 is a heartfelt story about family, dreams, aging, and the moments we keep postponing because we assume there will always be another day. Sometimes, you don't need a warning about how someone will die. Sometimes, you just need a reason to start living.
